Day 27
Okay, so day 27 was actually two days ago, but I’m just now getting to writing about it. Lots of good stuff to cover though, so I guess I’ll jump right in. Last week, I started on a slap comp for the big explosion. I really just wanted to see how everything was going to work out and make sure the idea I had for it would play out. I posted a still on our facebook page and other sites and received some good feedback like adding reflections and some more glow. On Sunday, day 27, Alex came over to finish his stuff. He had buzzed all his hair off and wore his same costume from the last movie. He didn’t look quite the same, but close enough. While shooting that scene, we tried to emulate one of the shots from the first Leap. Just a way to tie the two films together a bit more.
After shooting, I dumped the footage to Frankenstein and started making my offlines. We went to the store and picked up some food for later. When we got back, I cut the scene and we started Alex’s ADR using the Yeti mic. For a piece of consumer gear, I’m really impressed by it. Not quite as good as the system I had on the last film, but very close. ADR this time with Alex took just over six hours-a big improvement over last time. After his ADR, we also recorded his commentary.
Just for fun, I spent the day today watching both Wulf and Leap. Rise of the Beast is (no pun intended) leaps and bounds above those two movies, which is really cool.
Tonight I have my friends Mic and Twinkle coming over to shoot a few inserts. We’re going to have to use the greenscreen because there’s snow everywhere and the scenes these are going into are outside.
