I had quite the scare today! I was cleaning up my computer to get it ready for the new flick and went to restart it. Suddenly, it locked up on me at the BIOS screen. I tried safe mode, last known settings, everything. I couldn’t get it to work. I figured I was going to have to cut my losses and wipe it. Not a big deal, since all my files are backed up and I still have the install files for everything, it’s just a pain in the butt to have to reinstall it all and get all my settings back. I go to put the restore CD into the drive, and it locks up! At this point I’m saying some not so Christian things to Frankenstein (my computer). Then I had a wild idea! See, I just purchased two 1TB hard drives for the film. One as a backup, the other as my primary storage drive. The backup wasn’t connected, but the primary was. I unplugged the primary, tried to restart again, and no issues! Seems that Frankenstein doesn’t like starting with the extra storage attached. Good to know!
Our Rebel T2i has been working well. I’ve gotten a lot of practice using it shooting a friends wedding and an advert for a local t-shirt company. I’m loving the camera and I’m starting to feel comfortable with my workflow. MPEG Streamclip has been nothing but awesome, I highly recommend using it vs paying for some of the other stuff that’s out there. I also came up with yet another method for stabilizing the thing. By tilting the tripod head 90 degrees then laying the legs across my upper arm, I’m able to basically have a shoulder rig for the camera! Between that and the steadypod, I’m all set. =D
We were slated to start shooting this Saturday, but due to some scheduling conflicts, we’re starting next Monday, one week from today. I’ve had to jostle a few scenes around because of it, but it’s nowhere near as bad as last year, having to reschedule while shooting. Now that sucks! As long as we can get the schedule ironed out before shooting, I’ll be a happy camper.
I met with the owner of a hanger out at Felts Field last Friday. Unfortunately they’re going out of town for five weeks so I won’t be able to use their location until early September. It’s worth the wait though. The location is perfect! Aside from the hanger, we’re also using my apartment again. The other day I went ahead and decorated it for the film. It doesn’t feel like home right now with all my posters and pictures gone. I did leave my masks up though and I also put up the two shirts from the first film. It’s weird now, but it’ll look great, so it’s worth it. I’ve covered some of my windows with blankets and such, since we’re shooting all the apartment scenes at night, this way you can’t tell what time of day it is.
Other than all that, I’ve got a cool title and tagline for the next flick- “Leap: Martyrs for Christ” and the tagline is “No second chances”
