I think I mentioned this last time, but we start shooting in a month. I had to bump production up a week because my dad and I are going to be backpacking during what was originally going to be the last week of shooting. I’ve started working hardcore on the schedule (the only part of filmmaking I really don’t like) and things are looking good.
Alex and I went location scouting today at Felts Field, a private airstrip in the Valley where I live. His family knows the owners, so it shouldn’t be a problem. We’ll have to see. The locations inside one of the hangers were great! I’m in love with the place, it has just the look I was looking for. Like, EXACTLY! God has definetly got His hand in this production, a fact I am very grateful for. Oh, and Alex also brought over a hand truck that he found at Goodwill for like $10. It’ll be used for hauling gear and for me to ride in for dolly shots when I can’t be on skates.
Other big news: ordered a dimmer for my work lights so I can control the lighting better. $14 on ebay. I also ordered the camera, as nobody in town has them in stock. $868 with shipping. I also ordered a 16GB class 6 card for $35. It’ll give us 49 min of video at 1080p/24fps. Ebay has some great deals! The camera should arrive in a week, same with the card and dimmer. The batteries I’ll get in about three weeks, but that’s okay, we start shooting in four. Things we still need: Two 1 TB hard drives (one for master files, the other for backup), One 500GB hard drive for the offlines and as a working drive. And then we’ll also need some new sound recording equipment as I don’t have access to the stuff from last time since the producer had to drop out. The hard drives will be my next big purchase, especially since I’m not shooting with tape, I need to have everything backed up (took me two features to learn that. lol)
So total budget so far, including some items I haven’t mentioned: $1029.66–this is my most expensive movie yet. “Wulf” was $600 and that was for props and food. “Leap” was $200 for food and tape. My producer kicked in about $500 for the audio equipment at the end (it wasn’t necessary, but it made life easier) so could be $700 depending on how you look at it. For ROTB, like I said, I still need some hard drives and audio gear, plus food, so it’ll probably be close to $2000. Not bad. I can live with that.
It’s been an interesting past week to say the least. God is good and making things happen. Praise Him!
