Wow! 25 updates so far! Okay, on with the news:
I had another training session with Alex and Ben today. We actually started choreographing the big fight in the film. It’s going to be brutal. Very much a mixture of Keysi Fighting Method and Krav Maga. I’ve trained in both, and my lead has taken some self defense classes in college. Ben’s just all around athletic, so between the three of us, it’s looking pretty good.
After the fight training, we met up with some new traceurs, Brady and Charles, who had contacted me through my parkour organization, IMP (Inner Monkey Parkour). They did a fantastic job and picked up all the skills pretty quick. They both have a background in film and one of them a martial arts background as well. I may have to recruit them.
I created a 5.1 mix for my STARS Pictures logo. I figured I better learn the basics now so by the time I start mixing I’ll know what I’m doing. Yes, I’m doing the final mix myself. Why? One, I don’t have the money to pay for it. Two, I enjoy doing it. I threw the logo onto a DVD and tried it on my system-it’s sounds AMAZING! Like a “real” movie.
There is going to be one drawback to me doing all of the post alone- It’s going to take me longer than I initially thought. At this point, I’m looking at March of 2011, rather than December 2010 like I had wished. Knowing that people will actually get to see the picture makes it easier to swallow though. For those that are interested, my post workflow will consist of an offline edit in Sony Vegas 9, bringing effects shots online and completing those in After Effects CS4. Drop them into the offline, then bring the entire film online in After Effects for grading and mastering. The audio mixing will be done back in Vegas. It was created as an audio editor anyway, so don’t worry. It’ll sound good.
I’m still looking for funds, so if anyone is willing to help our cause, please get in contact with me. Also, we want to give everyone the best possible movie we can and that means shooting on HD, however we are currently lacking an HD camera. If anyone has an old FX1 or anything like that laying around, please let me know.
That’s it for today. Things are getting exciting, I’ll keep ya’ll posted!
